The Challenge

For SiGMA’s 2025–2026 program, the team set out to create a flagship gift for their Platinum VIP tier: a fully customized baseball jacket. This was not a simple branded item. The jackets featured complex multi-zone embroidery across the back, sleeves, and chest, a custom-designed interior lining, branded neck labels, hangtags, and premium gift packaging boxes — a level of craftsmanship that demanded equally careful handling at every step of the supply chain.

The project came with two significant challenges.

Challenge 1: A packaging issue that could undermine the entire gifting experience.

During the sample review stage, it was identified that the gift boxes were susceptible to scuffing and impact damage. For a product designed as a Platinum VIP gift, arrival condition is everything. A dented or scratched box does not just look bad — it tells the recipient that the brand does not care. For SiGMA, whose Platinum tier represents their most valued customers and partners, that is not a risk worth taking.

Catching this at the sample stage was critical. Had the issue gone undetected into full production, thousands of units would have shipped with a packaging problem that no amount of logistics coordination could fix after the fact. With a hard delivery deadline of October 20 for the first batch, timed to a major industry event, there would have been no opportunity to course-correct.

Challenge 2: Global fulfillment across 40+ countries, with logistics restrictions in key markets.

SiGMA’s Platinum Jacket program required two parallel fulfillment tracks: individual direct delivery to VIP customers who had purchased Platinum tickets, and bulk shipment to SiGMA offices across multiple countries for use as employee gifts. Across 40+ destination countries, several markets — including Russia, Serbia, Ghana, Brazil, and Kazakhstan — impose strict size and volume restrictions on incoming shipments. The premium gift boxes, while beautiful, exceeded the allowable dimensions for standard delivery in these regions.

The Solution

Solution 1: A Packaging Upgrade Built for Long-Haul Delivery

To protect the unboxing experience across thousands of individual shipments, HyperSKU redesigned the packaging workflow from the factory outward. The updated approach introduced an easy-tear outer sleeve combined with pearl cotton corner protectors — a two-layer system that absorbs transit impact without adding bulk that would complicate logistics. Packaging was completed at the factory level, ensuring consistency across every unit before it entered the shipping network.

The result was a gift box that could survive international transit and still feel pristine in the recipient’s hands.

Solution 2: Personalized Logistics Planning

For markets with volume restrictions, HyperSKU implemented an alternative packaging path: removing the outer gift box and repackaging jackets in protective poly bags sized for standard courier acceptance. This allowed every market to be served through appropriate local logistics channels.

Importantly, the adjustment was made at the outer shipping layer only. The jacket itself — the embroidery, the custom lining, the branded hangtag — arrived exactly as designed. Recipients in restricted markets received the same product as every other Platinum VIP. The packaging change was a logistics decision, not a brand experience compromise.

In addition, HyperSKU provided recipient confirmation as a value-added service for individual direct deliveries — tracking each shipment to final-mile completion and confirming receipt, so that no Platinum-level gift was left undelivered or unaccounted for.
